When you play a board or card game alone in Game Collection, your opponent has a name: Lumi AI. Lumi is also Lacspace's AI assistant. In the games it has a narrower job: to be a fair opponent you can learn from, whether you want an easy win on the sofa or a real fight.
The rule Lumi AI never breaks
Lumi AI plays from the same information you have.
- In Call Break it decides from its own hand and the cards already on the table. It never looks at yours.
- In Ludo it uses the same dice and the same rules as you.
- In Carrom it shoots with the same physics.
Everything runs on your phone, so it also works offline.
How it thinks, game by game

Games are different problems, so Lumi AI uses a different method for each.
Tic Tac Toe: it cannot lose
Tic Tac Toe is small enough that a computer can look at every possible game to the end, a method called minimax. So Lumi AI never loses. The best you can do is a draw. It's a good lesson in perfect play.
Checkers: five to eight moves ahead
Checkers is far too big to search completely, so Lumi AI looks a set number of moves ahead and scores each position. To make this fast, it uses alpha-beta pruning, which skips lines of play that can't beat a line it has already found. Early in the game it looks 5 moves ahead to stay quick. As pieces come off the board, it looks 6 and then up to 8 moves ahead, which is why it gets sharper in the endgame.
Ludo: a score for every move
Each time it rolls, Lumi AI scores every legal move and picks the highest. The score rewards:
- progress around the board;
- getting a piece home;
- bringing a new piece out on a 6;
- landing on a safe square;
- above all, capturing, especially a piece that has travelled a long way.
The three difficulty levels change how it chooses:
- Easy: half the time it simply plays a random legal move.
- Normal: it always plays its best-scoring move.
- Hard: it also counts danger. It avoids leaving a piece one to six squares in front of an opponent, where a single roll could capture it.
In online Ludo, the same Lumi AI fills empty seats and plays for anyone who drops out.
Carrom: the best angle, then a human wobble
For each shot, Lumi AI tries striker positions along its baseline and checks which pieces line up with a pocket. It scores each option by how well it lines up, how far the piece must travel and whether the path is clear, then sets the power to match. A perfect shot every time wouldn't be fun, so each level adds aim "wobble": the most on Easy, less on Casual, and very little on Pro.
Call Break: bid, then play to the bid
Three Lumi AI players fill the table. Each one bids by counting its likely winners: high spades (spades are always trumps), long spade suits, and aces and kings in the other suits.
During play, each one tracks whether it still needs tricks to make its bid:
- If it does, it wins tricks as cheaply as it can.
- If it doesn't, it plays low and saves its strong cards.
Pro bots, the default, always play this way. With Pro turned off, they sometimes play a looser random card.
Gomoku and the others
In Gomoku, Lumi AI weighs extending its own open lines against blocking yours, with a slight preference for the centre. Reversi, Connect Four, Mancala and the other board games each have their own Lumi AI too.
| Game | Method | Levels |
|---|---|---|
| Tic Tac Toe | Full game-tree search (minimax) | Unbeatable |
| Checkers | Minimax with alpha-beta, 5 to 8 moves deep | Deepens in the endgame |
| Ludo | Move scoring; Hard adds danger checks | Easy, Normal, Hard |
| Carrom | Shot search plus aim wobble | Easy, Casual, Pro |
| Call Break | Hand-based bidding, plays to its bid | Pro on or off |
| Gomoku | Attack versus defence line scoring | One level |
Lumi AI is part of how Lacspace Game Studio thinks about games (more on that here). The opponent should be fair, readable and beatable, and it should get better as you do.

Frequently asked questions
What is Lumi AI in Game Collection?
Lumi AI is the computer opponent in Game Collection’s board and card games, including Ludo, Checkers, Carrom, Call Break, Reversi, Connect Four, Gomoku and Mancala.
Does Lumi AI cheat or see my cards?
No. Lumi AI decides from the same information a human player has. In Call Break it uses only its own hand and the cards on the table, and in Ludo the dice follow the same rules for everyone.
Can I beat Lumi AI at Tic Tac Toe?
No. In Tic Tac Toe Lumi AI searches every possible game, so perfect play from you leads to a draw.
What changes between Easy, Normal and Hard in Ludo?
On Easy, Lumi AI plays a random legal move half the time. On Normal it always plays its best-scoring move. On Hard it also avoids leaving pieces within one to six squares of an opponent.
Does Lumi AI need internet?
No. Lumi AI runs on your phone, so every game against it works offline. In online Ludo, the server runs Lumi AI for empty or dropped seats.
