Cricket has a huge following in Nepal, yet there has not been a full cricket game built here, in Nepali, around our own grounds and festivals. NPL Cricket League is Lacspace Game Studio’s answer. It is still in development, so this guide sets out what is planned, mode by mode, and marks clearly what you can already try.

Start by choosing your colours

When you first open the game, you choose your language and then one of the eight franchises, from the Biratnagar Kings to the Sudurpaschim Royals. In the game, each one plays in its own way: the Biratnagar Kings hunt early wickets with pace, the Pokhara Avengers squeeze the middle overs with spin, and the Sudurpaschim Royals love a close chase. You put your name on the back of the shirt, and you are in.

How a ball will work

  1. Read the delivery. Every ball has a line, a length and a speed. A full ball, a good length and a short one all come at you differently, and spinners drift off the straight.
  2. Choose your shot. Defend, drive, pull or loft, with direction and footwork planned for the full game.
  3. Time it. Perfect timing clears the rope. Too early or too late, and the ball finds a fielder or the stumps.
  4. Run. Running between the wickets, with calls, is planned for the full game.

With the ball in hand, you will pick pace, swing, cut or spin, choose your line and length, and set your field.

Online, but fair

In online matches, your phone will send only your inputs: the shot you chose and when you played it. The match server will work out what happened. That means a modified app cannot hand itself a six, and both players will see the same result. If nobody suitable is online, Lumi AI will take the other side after a short wait, so you are never left waiting to play.

Free to play, never pay-to-win: the plan at launch is a free game with soft currency earned by playing and cosmetics such as kits, bats and celebrations. Paid loot boxes are ruled out, and nothing you can buy will make you play better.

Made to sound like home

  • Menus and commentary in Nepali, with English one tap away.
  • Crowds that chant in Nepali.
  • An original soundtrack planned around the madal, sarangi and bansuri.
  • Grounds and cities from across the country, from the Valley Ground in Kathmandu to the Far West Arena in Dhangadhi.

How to follow the game

The game’s home is nplcricket.app, with the full site in Nepali at nplcricket.app/ne. It has the teams, the players, a roadmap and a newsroom with development updates.
