Parents ask a fair question about any game with soldiers in it: what will my teenager actually see? Ludo Fighters: Battle Board is made for players aged 13 and up. It is Ludo: two to six squads, a dice roll, the race home. Here is exactly what is different, what you can switch off, and how online play works.

What your teen will see

The difference from classic Ludo is what happens when a soldier lands exactly on an enemy outside a safe star. The two soldiers face off and the enemy is knocked out with a cartoon weapon: a few pistol, rifle or shotgun shots, a single sniper shot, or a lobbed grenade that bursts in a cartoon blast. It takes a second or two.

  • Face off: two soldiers raise their rifles.
  • Knocked out: X eyes and a cartoon fall.
  • Back to base: a puff of smoke, and he respawns, exactly like a captured pawn going home in classic Ludo.

There is no blood, no injury detail and no death screen. On a safe star, a shot bounces off a blue shield instead.

What your teen will hear

The game uses real recorded sounds: dice rattling, footsteps, a rifle being reloaded, gunshots, a ricochet, a cartoon grenade blast and a cartoon body fall. Each battlefield has quiet background ambience, such as birds or wind. There is marching music in the menus and short stings for a fight, a win and a loss. Soldiers speak recorded squad callouts such as “Enemy spotted!” and “Mission complete!”. You can hear every sound before your teen does in the sound lab on ludofighters.com.

Five settings that put you in charge

The five Ludo Fighters settings for parents: game sounds, music, squad voice, vibration and reduce motion
SettingWhat switching it does
Game soundsOff: no gunshots, ricochets or other sound effects. The board game still plays normally.
MusicOff: no menu music, stings or battlefield ambience.
Squad voiceOff: no spoken callouts.
VibrationOff: the phone does not vibrate during play.
Reduce motionOn: skips the gun fight animations and battlefield effects, so a capture just sends the soldier home.

Music, game sounds and squad voice each have their own volume slider too. In Custom match you can also pick a gentler Lumi AI (Rookie is the easiest) for a newer player, play with fewer soldiers per squad for a shorter game, and turn on fast animations for shorter fights. Every Custom match option.

Online play, chat, ads and purchases

How Ludo Fighters keeps online play safe: optional online squads, callsigns only, no typed chat, report and block

Today the game has no advertising and nothing to buy. Offline, your teen plays against Lumi AI or with people sitting next to them. Online squads are optional, and they work like this:

  • No email, phone number or real name is asked for.
  • Other players see only a callsign, which passes a rude-word filter.
  • There is no typed chat. Players can only send fixed callouts, such as “Nice!” or “Hurry!”.
  • Tapping any player’s name in a match lets you report them (for their callsign, cheating, abuse or something else) or block them. Blocked players are never matched with you again.
  • The online account can be deleted inside the game.

The game has no parental-control switch of its own for Online squads. If you would rather your teen played offline only, ask them to stick to Play vs Lumi AI, Custom match and Pass & play, or use your phone’s own parental controls. Offline play does not collect personal data, and names typed for Pass & play stay on the phone.

Age guidance: 13 and up

Ludo Fighters is made for players aged 13 and up. On Google Play its target audience is 13 to 15, 16 to 17 and 18+, and it is not part of the Families programme for younger children. The combat is cartoon and bloodless, but it does show cartoon rifles and gunshot sounds, and online squads put players in matches with people they do not know. Google Play and the App Store will show the game’s official age rating on their store pages. If you are unsure whether it suits your teenager, play a match together first.

Playing together

Pass & play turns one phone into a board game night for 2 to 6 players. Mix people and Lumi AI in Custom match so a newer player has company on their side of the board, set Lumi AI to Rookie, and talk through the danger zone: any enemy 1 to 6 squares behind a soldier can land on it. It is the same thinking classic Ludo teaches, with a little more noise. How the fights work, step by step.
