Every Ludo player knows the moment: you land on an opponent and their piece goes home. In Ludo Fighters: Battle Board that moment is a short cartoon gun fight. The rule behind it has not changed. What has changed is how it looks and sounds, and how much it makes you think about where your soldiers stand.

One condition starts a fight

Your move has to finish exactly on a square where an enemy soldier stands, and that square must not be a shielded star or a start square. That is the whole rule.

  • Passing over an enemy does nothing. Only an exact landing counts.
  • Two enemies on the square? Your soldier fires at both, and both go home.
  • Your own soldiers never fight. They can share a square.
  • The defender cannot win. The fight shows the capture; it does not add a second roll. The surprise is in the dice, not in the shoot-out.

Eight frames, about 1.3 seconds

The times below are the game’s own cue points at normal speed, measured from the moment the rifles come up.

A fight has to feel big without slowing Ludo down. Turn on Fast animations in Custom match and the same fight plays in about 0.8 seconds. Tap the board during any fight and it jumps straight to the end. Switch on Reduce motion in Settings and the fight is skipped altogether: the capture still counts, and the enemy simply goes home.

Five weapons, chosen by range

Fights do not repeat. Each one picks a weapon, and the distance between the two soldiers matters: a sniper shot is more likely across a long gap.

The five Ludo Fighters weapons, pistol, rifle burst, shotgun, sniper and grenade, and the shield on safe stars
WeaponWhat you see
PistolSingle, steady shots
Rifle burstThree rounds, fast
ShotgunOne loud blast with a wide spread
SniperOne shot across a long gap
GrenadeLobbed on an arc, then a cartoon blast

Before you roll, target rings mark the enemies 1 to 6 squares ahead of your soldiers, so you can see who is in reach.

Stars are bulletproof

The four star squares and the four coloured start squares carry a shield. Land on an enemy there and your shot hits a blue dome and ricochets away. Nobody is knocked out, and both soldiers share the square. You hear the ricochet and see the dome flash, so you know the shield saved him. If your table plays without safe squares, switch Safe star squares off and every square becomes open ground.

How fights change the way you play

A knock-out sends a soldier all the way back to base, so the further he had marched, the more it hurts. That turns every move into a small risk-and-reward call.

  • Know the danger zone. Any enemy 1 to 6 squares behind you can land on you with a single roll. On a star, he cannot touch you.
  • Protect your veterans. A soldier near home has the most to lose. Park him on a star, or get him into his home lane, where no enemy can follow.
  • Hunt the leaders. Knocking out the enemy’s most advanced soldier costs them the most marching. It is usually the shot to take.
  • Chain your turns. With the default rules, winning a fight earns another roll, so one good fight can set up the next.
  • Use the stars as stepping stones. Hopping from shield to shield is slower, but nobody can stop you.

Lumi AI plays by the same logic, and each of its personalities weighs these risks differently. Here is how Lumi AI thinks.

Coming next: a killcam that replays your winning shot at quarter speed, so you can send it to the friend you just knocked out. It is on the roadmap as a plan, not a promise with a date.

Frequently asked questions

When does a gun fight happen in Ludo Fighters?

Only when your move finishes exactly on a square where an enemy soldier stands, and that square is not a shielded star or start square. Passing over an enemy does nothing.

Can the defender win a gun fight?

No. The fight shows the capture and does not add a dice roll. If you land exactly on an unshielded enemy, he is knocked out and goes back to base.

How long does a gun fight take?

About 1.3 seconds at normal speed, about 0.8 seconds with Fast animations, and you can tap the board to skip it. Reduce motion skips the fight entirely.

Which weapons are in Ludo Fighters?

Pistol, rifle burst, shotgun, sniper and grenade. Each fight picks one, and a sniper shot is more likely across a long gap.

Are star squares safe in Ludo Fighters?

Yes, by default. Stars and start squares carry a shield, so a shot ricochets and nobody is knocked out. The Safe star squares house rule can switch this off.

Does winning a fight give an extra turn?

Yes, with the default rules. Extra turn after a capture is a house rule you can switch off in Custom match.
